The mission of the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County is to provide leadership, funding, and support that promotes artistic expression and historic preservation and to advocate for resources and education that expand arts opportunities for all, helping to create an enriched and healthy community. We envision Anne Arundel County as a place where artists are inspired and creativity thrives, where arts and culture bring people of all backgrounds together to enrich, bind, and celebrate our community.

Funding for our grantmaking is generously provided through Anne Arundel County, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the City of Annapolis, as well as a number of corporations, foundations, and private donors.

Overview:

As part of Anne Arundel Arts Month, AND Creative will once again be curating and installing a month-long art exhibit of work by artists in and around Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The purpose of this exhibit is to showcase a variety of art forms, and to highlight the diversity of the arts and artists in our county. 

Works selected will be on display in the Martino Gallery at Maryland Hall from May 29 through June 27, 2024

Schedule:

March 4 to April 26 - Art call open 

May 3 - Artists notified by email

May 27-28 - Artists drop off work at Maryland Hall

May 29 - Exhibit installation by AND Creative

June 4 - *Private reception 4:30 to 5:30 / Opening reception for the public 5:30 to 7:00

June 27 - Exhibit taken down

June 28-29 - Artist pickup at Maryland Hall

*We highly encourage you to be present for both receptions.

Terms of Entry:

  • Artists must reside in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
  • Artists are encouraged to submit work that goes beyond the typical themes of Annapolis/Anne Arundel County.
  • All entries must be original and completed solely by the artist's hand. A maximum of four original works created within the past two years may be entered.
  • Images of accepted works may be used for promotional purposes including, but not limited to social media posts, website illustration, and invitation designs.
  • Artwork cannot be withdrawn before the end of the exhibit.

Artwork Guidelines:

  • Hanging work must be 20" by 24" or smaller.
  • Two-dimensional artworks can include drawings, paintings, photography, or prints.
  • Three-dimensional artwork can include sculptures, installations, or clothing.
  • Digital works shown on a television or monitor.
  • Written works should be framed or bound.

Artwork Delivery:

All two dimensional works must be ready to hang; wire is recommended on the back of all framed pieces. All work must be delivered to the gallery on the scheduled dates, and have the following information affixed to the non-viewing side of the piece:

  • Artist's name.
  • Artist's address, phone number, and email.
  • Title of the work, medium, and price; be specific regarding the medium.

Liability:

All artwork will be handled with care. Insurance, if desired, must be carried by the artists. AND Creative and Maryland Hall will not be responsible or liable for loss or damage from any cause whatsoever

Sales:

  • Artwork accepted for the exhibit does not have to be for sale.
  • Artists will receive 60% of the sales price for work sold during the exhibit.
  • Maryland Hall will work with buyer to organize any deliveries or drop offs.

Nonprofits that have not previously received Community Arts Grant funding are eligible to apply for a Founding Grant, which is capped at $2,500.

Community Arts Grants Tier - II provide general operating support to 501(c)(3) arts organizations with a budget between $100,000 and $750,000 that are based in and provide programming in Anne Arundel County.  

Nonprofits that have not previously received Community Arts Grant funding are eligible to apply for a Founding Grant, which is capped at $2,500.

Community Arts Grants - Tier III provide general operating support to 501(c)(3) arts organizations with a budget that is $750,000 or more that are based in and provide programming in Anne Arundel County.

The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County has allocated $150,000 to provide funding for limited number of one-time Strategic Impact Grants (SIG) that will provide for substantive transformation that will elevate a local arts organization’s operations, performance, and/or programming to the next level.

This opportunity is available to non-profit county arts organizations that have previously received general operating support from the Arts Council through a Community Arts or Founding Grant. Requests should range from $5,000 - $50,000 and no matching funds are required. Organizations may partner and submit a joint application. Partnership applications are highly encouraged

Examples of potentially fundable requests could include, but are not limited to, capital projects, collection acquisitions, hiring additional staff, software investment, or other capacity building expenses.
